Putting himself through law school, Brett learned the masonry trade while working on the Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He also performed rough carpentry, installed insulation, carried hod, and installed drywall in a variety of commercial and residential construction projects throughout the mid-west and northwest.
